Exercise Belly Fat Burn

Donna asks…I'm a bit confused over how exercise and burning fat work together?For the sake of example, I'm just going to state that I have belly fat that I've been trying to lose by running for 30 minutes every other day and doing crunch-like exercise routines. However, I don't really understand how crunches help you burn fat, to me it sounds like they help you build muscle (does that mean that by muscle takes the place of fat or what?) I think I understand that running does the trick
